  Community Update Number 6 - Mid-April 2008

The Taskforce has met three times since the meeting of Thursday 13 March, which the last Update reported on. Here are a few points about these meetings and some other information about the work of the Taskforce:

  • We heard from a class of current Bridgewater High School students who have been working on a project to survey opinions of students across the area. This was a fascinating and very important session for the Taskforce.

  • We spent a fair amount of time discussing the implications of various possible transition points in our educational provision (for example, grade 10 to grade 11). This has emerged as one of the biggest issues in the whole process.

  • We have spent most of the time in these three meetings trying to finalise our recommendations and to get started on the report.

  • We would hope to present the report to the Minister in the next week or two (depending on his schedule).

  • After that the timeline is a bit unclear. However we are hoping it will not be too long before we hear what happens next and certainly we will keep you up to date through this website.

As always, should you wish to ask questions about any of this or make a comment, please do so by email to david.forshaw@education.tas.gov.au
